We believe and teach orthodox Christian doctrine and we affirm the historic creeds of the church, such as the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

THE BIBLE
The Bible containing the 66 books of the Old and New Testament is the inspired word of God, is entirely reliable and truthful, and stands as the central authority over our lives.

GOD
God is eternally One but exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each one being fully God. God created the entire universe out of nothing. This can only be known by the revelation given in the Bible.

HUMANITY
Human beings are made in the image of God. As such, we are unique amongst all of God’s creation. Adam and Eve disobeyed God: we have become heirs to this choice (the Bible calls this ‘sin’). By nature we follow this choice, which has resulted in physical and spiritual death for all humankind. If we remain in this state of alienation we will inevitably face the judgement of God and eternal punishment. We can, however, be reconciled to God through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ by His death upon the cross.

JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ the Son is fully God, but was born on earth to Mary fully human, in willing obedience to the loving purpose of God to provide Salvation for sinful humankind. He lived a sinless life, died on a cross to bear the sins of all who believe on Him, was resurrected bodily on the third day, ascended into heaven and will come again as Judge and King. He is the only way of salvation. His life on earth serves as a model for the Christian.

SALVATION

We can be reconciled with God through the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross and thereby rescued (‘saved’) from eternal damnation. God offers us salvation by His grace alone and we receive it as a gift through personal faith in the completed work of Jesus Christ; it cannot be earned. God freely offers salvation to all people when they turn to Him.

THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is God. He indwells and empowers us to live an effective Christian life by affirming our salvation, encouraging us, and giving us the strength to live a life that is pleasing to God and personally fulfilling. The Holy Spirit endows each believer with unique qualities, to enable him or her to serve the church and the world.

THE CHURCH

The Church is composed of all those throughout history who place saving faith in Jesus Christ. It is not an institution, but a people. God wants all Christians to live out their spiritual lives as part of his ‘family’, the Church.

SATAN
Satan is a fallen angel, the personal, spiritual adversary of God and God’s people, opposing the work of the church and the spiritual vitality of Christians. We therefore take seriously, but in a balanced way, the reality of personal spiritual opposition. We shall face conflict and opposition, as Christians. Satan was defeated by Jesus through the cross and is doomed to final defeat and judgement when Jesus Christ returns.

HEAVEN

At the final judgement, God will assign all people their eternal destinies - either eternal life or eternal punishment - depending on their response to the offer of salvation given in Jesus Christ.
